Videos on- line in the service of medicine
Hello
Watch the attached article which described the arising trend of using the power of the video on-line for the service of practitioners
Physicians use video sharing sites like Youtube for sharing and spreading videos about their service as physicians ( mostly medical procedures).
Others are produce more complex and expensive videos for their own sites.
Mostly its for marketing and P.R but Im sure that the general public as well professionals will earn some high quality professional content . This will happen when the big hospitels will share some of their activities via on-line videos (surgeries, procedures, treatments etc.)

Labaction.com
I covered in the past some video tools for scientist and physicians.
Just for example : Scivee and Jove.
You know already my thoughts regarding the power and the future impacts of the media and the video abilities on the "health/medicine 2.0" world.
Here, I'm presenting another service called Labaction.
Its another video sharing tool. A niche tool for scientists and researcher.
In Labaction you can upload your own casts and see and view others webcasts. There is an option for making your own playlist and essential others web 2.0 tools such tags and etc.
Still they have problems :
1. The streaming is still suffering
2. The content for my opinion is not only top -notch scientific material.
3. Lack of content ( this is a matter of time....?)
My advice to them is to concentrate only in a top- notch content.
Researchers, physicians and scientists will not spent their precious free time in the evenings or even at work but only in a pure professional tools.
In The last pharse I mentioned one of the issues every health 2.0 web company must handle with : "keep on with pure and high professionality"

Scivee - The video site for scientists
It looks like being a week of video tools in this blog.
Scivee comparing to the site I covered in my last post, is a new guy in the medicine 2.0 nieghbourhood.
Its goal is becoming the "YouTube for scientists". Under this statment we can see that the site wish to be the place for researchers to upload their scientific papers and to follow them with a video presentations.
It was found by The National Science Foundation, the Public Library of Science, and the San Diego Supercomputing Center .
I think the site can cotribute to faster and easilly acssess to science news in the community.Using a video presentations can help to the "viral spreading" of the news and the papers.
Note : There is option to create also podcasts.

Dabble- Ours video aggregation tool
You already know I like to share with you tools and platforms from the web 2.0 world which have give added value to the physician's and researchers world . (No, I don't forget the other sectors ...).
Tooday I want to introduce you with Dubble.
Its a video aggregation tool - simple as that.
Theese days are the days of the web video platforms. In the past I wrote about the central place of the video platforms in the web 2.0 and the health 2.0 world.
There are now more and more video platforms on the web. The idea of dabble is to be one stop shop for you- the end users.
You can watch the videos from many other platforms , save them in your own playlist and share them with others. Simple as that.Everything in one place.

They are suppose to cover more than 600 web video platfrms.

On- line video in the service of medical 2.0
Hi
( this item is about important subject while i will mentioned several examples including JOVE)
On line video applications and tools are one of my favourites.
The ability of the technology with the net capacity create huge buzz concerning everything that holds the terms: video and web (video webcasting).
In a few years, maybe, our traditional t.v broadcasting will be just a romantic remembernace.
Video on the web emerge, side by side, with the concepts of web 2.0 so we see the bi-directional influence .
Youtube is the gold standart example.
Today, google's company is still improving and continue to build the well known web 2.0 platform which established and count on the popularity of end users video's.
At the beginning (amazing.....only two years ago), it was the place for funny and unusual self made video clips.
Nowdays its the place to see and search everything you can just dream about.
You tube is the place also for short videos from the medical/health world (why not to embedd videos containing reviews and news items, for example, from our health sector too).
Youtube is just the traditional example.
On our medical 2.0 sectors there are more and more sites that use the technical abilities of webcasting and video streaming.
The one that I want to mention, is more for the researchers among us.
JOVE (journal of visualized experiments).
It's a unique websites which built collections of videos on the subject of basic biologic research.
It is a real professional tool by trying to share with the "community" many visualized experiments.
There are several subcategories including : neuroscience, cellular biology and microbiology.
The aim is to solve the "bottleneck" (by their words) of reproducibility and transparency.
Quick learning and studying new labs procedures and techniques can help each other and at last improve the basic research for the all community.
If we are discussing "webcasting" , we can give other examples of platforms and websites on the health/medical 2.0 sector (just to be accurate, not all of those are medical 2.0 but still they are belong to the online video / medical sector) :
1. Videojug - There is a section of health and medicine.It is more a "knowledge flow" from experts to consumers.
2. Intrinsic professional educational tools like : physical examination (one of several), clinical procedures (this one is offered by NEJM but there are few others free of charge).
Indeed, a magnificant world.
These are only a taste from an emerging world.

It's the first time we mention the use of video for the service of the health sector.
This one is less professional and can help us ,doctors, for teaching and for afilliate others to see learn and watch.Still, its a good example of the video use on the web. Promise to expose you to much more advanced webcasting tools in the near future

There are separate versions of each video tailored to adults, children and infants. The site also features printable one-page guides you can post in your home or workplace
